One of the most amazing things that I see throughout the Bible is the Lord making provision in places where it seems like there would be no provision. Think about Elijah as he finds a brook with water in the middle of the desert; the Lord turning the bitter waters of Marah into potable water. Even better yet, is the Lord making clear paths through the Red Sea. The picture of streams in the desert is a common one in Scripture and one that we ought to keep in the back of our minds. God promises that He will supply all of our needs but we also have to remember that He is not limited by time, space, and the surrounding climate. Throughout Scripture, God has made prosperous, lush, streams in the midst of dry and barren lands. And God hasn’t stopped doing miracles like this!
